A person who can identify with the gender determined at birth is considered cis. This is the norm.
Anyone who does not or does not fully identify with the gender determined at birth is usually referred to as trans. This is also the norm.

Even today, some trans people still have to contend with social rejection, which is why the Transgender Day of Visibility is so important.
