David von Bassewitz, born in 1975, is one of the most influential German illustrators of his generation. In 2010, he was named Best Illustrator by the Art Directors Club Europe. His illustrations appear in Die Zeit, stern and Le Nouvel Observateur and have been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in London, among other places. With Vasmer's Brother, he presented his first graphic novel in 2014. David lives as a freelance artist and illustrator in Lübeck.
